Requirements:
- Windows 2000 is automatically eligible for use of VPN.
- VPN Host name / Username / Password - Please contact us for these
- Internet Connection (you will need to be connected to the Internet before establishing your VPN connection)
Setting up a VPN Connection
1. You can get to the Dial-Up Networking Folder by clicking the Start button and selecting Settings and then clicking Network and Dial-up Connections. You'll see the screen below:
2. Open Make New Connection, if you haven't previously configured Dialup Networking then the screen below will ask you for some basic information. If you do not see the screen below than skip to step three.
3. Click Next
4. Select Connect to a private network through the Internet and then click Next.
5. Type in the Host Name or IP Address of the computer that you want to make a VPN connection to. Click Next.
6. Select either For all users or Only for myself depending on if you want other people that have access to your computer to be able to access this connection or not. Click Next.
7. Type in a name for the connection and click Finish. The Add a shortcut to my desktop is optional.
8. Windows should pull up the connection screen below. Enter your Username and Password and click the Properties button.
9. Click the Networking Tab and change the Type of VPN server to Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP), Click OK.
10. Click Connect and Windows should connect to your VPN account to the specified VPN network.
VPN for Windows should now be successfully setup on your computer to securely access a remote network.
